PRELIMINARY TASK 2 UPDATE
On the 16th of May we started filming for our preliminary task 2, we filmed from 3:00-6:00 pm but unfortunately it didn't turn out the way we liked, here are some things that went wrong and what didn't go well during filming:
- This shot will be re-done because it was way to shaky and also because of the loud sound in the background.
- This panning shot will be re-shot because just like the other establishing shot it was to shaky and we had a problem with the reflection of the glass in most shots with the widows so we will re do all the window shots.
- This shot we will we re-do because our talent put o a funny accent the effected how scary the opening sequence would actually be.
- We will re-do this shot because I was to short to reach the height that would look good for the shot, so we will use a chair to make it look taller. Also because the talent looked around when they weren't supposed to.
- The sound wasn't great because the person on sound was also one of the talent.
- Some of the shots were to shaky and needed to be shot on a camera stand.
- The lighting in the locker room was to yellow.
- We didn't have enough connecting shots.
- The story didn't fully make sense or match up with the shots we got.
- We filmed the locker scene earlier when it was lighter but by the time we were filming the hallway scene it was to dark and wouldn't fit the timing of the story.
- Some of the shots were to blurry and shot to close up which didn't make it look realistic.
- We didn't have enough shots of the bad guy.
- We didn't have enough shots of the janitor and it didn't seem like he was a janitor because he didn't have any props just a costume.
- Some of our talent had to leave early so we weren't able to get enough shots with them in it.
- Our talent for the janitor put on an accent when they spoke and made it seem unrealistic and not as scary.
- One of the cameras was mixed up and didn't work that well so we had to get another camera and get a new battery and then it wasn't fully charged, so it kept running out of battery which took up a lot of time which is why we finished so late.
- The story board and the script didn't match up because different people were making each one.
- Because we were at a school there was a machine that was so loud that it effected every shot and made the sound bad again.
Because of all these factors we are re- shooting:
- All the locker room shots because the white balance wasn't good and it made the room look yellow also because the sound was really bad and we weren't able to hear the talent that well.
- We will also re- shoot this shot because it was at a strange angle, it was to zoomed in and it was blurry because it was so zoomed in.
- We will be re-doing this shot because our talent smiled which makes it seem less realistic also because you could hear the machine in the background and it was to loud another reason is because the camera was to shaky and it effected the Mise en scene.- This shot will be re-done because it was way to shaky and also because of the loud sound in the background.
What we are re-shoot:
- Because of all the little mistakes in each shot we will have to end up re-shooting the whole thing again but maybe keep only one or two shots from the first filming day. This is just a good practice for us and will help us to improve for our next filming day which will be on the 21st of May.
What we are changing or adding in:
- Our Thriller is meant to be a phycological thriller but we filmed it like it wasn't and there was just someone watching her, so we will add in a mirror shot of her talking back to herself and more shots of her thinking she is being followed.
- We will have in more connecting shots to make our opening sequence flow better and make more sense.
- We will add in more shots of the janitor cleaning around the school to give the audience context which creates more suspense.
- We will then add in more false jump scares to add tension and make the audience feel more on edge.
- We will make the sound better by filing in the time when there is no machine going so there is no buzzing sound in the background and we will have a mic on a boom stick so the voices of the characters can be heard better.
- Lastly we will ask our talent not to put on an accent so it can seem more suspenseful and scary.
We will also try to incorporate the the creative shot ideas:
3. The model reveal, to show our vulnerable character but then to reveal the stalker in the background.
5. The bicycle reveal, to show our vulnerable character walking in a creative way.
7. The pull back reveal, to focus on something our character is doing or going then to reveal them.
11. The reflection pan, we will use to show the vulnerable character walking down the hallway alone.
12. the centered look back, we will use this at the end when our main character will be walking and then she will turn her head and it will fade to a black screen.
